My work is strongly guided by a reverence for nature: an endless source of color contrasts, balance, and subtlety.
I’m currently specially interested in birds and roots, which evoke in me feelings of freedom versus belonging. By highlighting the interdependence between birds and their environment, I seek to draw attention to these two opposing needs not only of birds, but also of us humans, which would be the desire for both liberty and connection. Freedom to explore new horizons, complemented by the possibility of landing and being welcomed in a habitat of abundance and protection; the refuge, the nest, the meeting point with one's own group.
This birds-roots visual narrative can be interpreted on multiple levels. From my concern for preserving the balance of natural ecosystems, especially mangroves, which play a fundamental role in the reproduction of birds, to the contradictory feelings of leaving versus staying, escaping vs. committing, distancing vs. connecting.
